About Me
Hello, I'm Hope.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I know that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, and finding the right counsellor is an important part of that journey. I hope sharing a little of my story helps you get a sense of who I am and the way I work.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 18 years working in the corporate world in Sydney. I enjoyed many aspects of my career, but like many people, I found myself trying to juggle the demands of work, family, and the expectations I placed on myself. After becoming a Mum to my two daughters (now 14 & 18), those competing priorities became even more apparent.
In 2015, my husband and I made the decision to leave the city and move to the beautiful coastal town of Gerringong on the South Coast of NSW. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. Living by the coast encouraged me to slow down, reconnect with what truly mattered, and appreciate the simple but powerful things that support our wellbeing—time in nature, movement, meaningful relationships, and making space to simply be.
I've always been passionate about fitness, health, and wellness, but over the years I've come to understand that true wellbeing starts with our emotional health.
Like many of us, I've experienced periods of stress, overwhelm, and feeling disconnected from myself while trying to meet the needs of everyone around me. Asking for support wasn't easy, but it became one of the greatest gifts I have given myself. Having someone who listened without judgement helped me better understand myself, navigate life's challenges, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Those experiences continue to shape the counsellor I am today. They remind me that healing isn't about having all the answers—it's about having someone beside you while you discover your own.
I genuinely believe that every person has the capacity for growth, resilience, and meaningful change, and it is a privilege to support people as they reconnect with their strengths and create the life they want to live. My passion to hold space for people extends to a volunteering role at Lifeline offering Telephone Crisis Support. This role has deepened my appreciation for the power of compassionate listening and reminded me that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported—especially during life's most difficult moments.
Whether you're experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, my hope is to provide a space where you feel safe, accepted, and never judged. Together, we'll explore what's happening for you, build on your strengths, and work towards helping you feel more connected, confident, and hopeful about the future.
My Approach
My counselling approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centred. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you gain clarity, uncover your strengths, and develop practical strategies that support lasting change.
Together we'll explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion while identifying the beliefs, patterns, and stories that may no longer be serving you.
My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Positive Psychology, Narrative Therapy, and wellness-informed practice. Drawing on my background in health, wellbeing, and personal development, I take a holistic approach that recognises the strong connection between our emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing.
Above all, I aim to create a therapeutic relationship that is:
- Authentic
- Compassionate
- Empathetic
- Non-judgemental
- Collaborative
- Practical and realistic
- Focused on your unique strengths, values, and goals
I believe wellbeing is our natural state. While life's challenges can leave us feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain, they don't define who we are. Together, we can explore your experiences, identify what is most important to you, and develop meaningful, sustainable ways to move towards the life you want to create.
My hope is that when you leave each counselling session, you'll feel heard, supported, and empowered—with greater clarity, renewed confidence, and practical tools that help you navigate life with resilience and self-compassion.
Thank you for considering me to be part of your journey. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you as you create a life that feels balanced, meaningful, and authentically yours.
